We Went Out to Share the Good News… and It Came Home
Recently, we had our Good News service—a beautiful opportunity to share the gospel with people who may never have heard the Good News of Jesus Christ and about the beautiful life He lived here on earth.
The Sunday prior to the Good News service, Ps Ivy shared in her sermon that there are more than 10,000 people residing in Stokes Valley. After hearing that, my husband Mo and I both felt prompted to do a mail drop throughout the wider community.
We spoke with our lovely pastors, who gave us the green light, and then called on our church family and our Walk Club to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
What followed was such an amazing afternoon of fellowship with our brothers and sisters—sharing, praying and walking together, trusting God with whoever He wanted to bring through those doors. 🥰
Then the weekend of the Good News service arrived.
We saw some new faces come through the doors to hear the gospel. I’m not sure whether they came because of what we had delivered, but it was such a blessing to see people come and hear about Jesus.
I had the honour of sharing my testimony alongside my brother in Christ, Misi—sharing our journeys with Christ and how much He has transformed our lives through the gospel.
Ps Dan then delivered a message about the Good News of Jesus Christ.
In between listening to the message, chasing my two-year-old and tag-teaming with my husband, I noticed that my son Elisha had been sitting on his own for most of the service.
During Ps Dan’s prayer of salvation, I caught a glimpse of Elisha with his hands raised.
Then, during worship, he stood singing with his hands raised too. I had never seen him do this before.
At the time, I wasn’t sure whether he had made a decision to follow Jesus, so I thought I would wait and ask him afterwards.
Once the service had ended, everyone gathered together, sharing food, stories and laughter. There was such a beautiful sense of joy in the room—nobody seemed to want to leave.
We were simply sitting in the presence of our Father, fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ and sharing a meal together.
The following day, I asked my son, “Hey Elisha, last night when Ps Dan was praying, did you put your hand up for the prayer of salvation?”
He replied, “Yeah, Mum, I did!”
I pulled him in, gave him a big hug and told him how proud we were of him and the decision he had made.
Our hearts were so full. ❤️
He made that decision of his own accord, standing there with nobody around him.
Looking back, what a blessing it was—to step out into our community, see new people come through the doors, share fellowship together, and then see our own son declare Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and commit his life to God.
That, to me, was a Good News weekend. 🙂❤️
