Sisters In Seasons - SIS

I grew up with many women in my life; in my extended family, through school, and in my church community. I didn't have a biological sister myself, but I was always drawn to the interactions of sisters. I was fascinated by the bond they shared, doing everything together; any sisterly interaction I would see, I would desire for myself. And so I found my sisterhood in my cousins, aunties who were close in age, female work colleagues, and friends I grew up with in my church.

I remember sharing the news with my mum that we were expecting our second daughter she said "You've always wanted a sister, and now you are blessed with two daughters". I was excited to see them grow together. I love witnessing the seasons they go through individually and together; the late-night chats they have, laughing together, clothes-swapping, teasing each other.

It is quite a journey for a young girl to grow into a woman especially a woman of faith. We live in a world where the modern woman has many roles and desires. But not all roles and desires are either right or good for us. I believe, that finding our identity in today's grey world is harder in this generation than in generations before because the rate of opinions, perspectives, information, and misinformation shared is faster by the millisecond. So we are being fed all these modern woman ideas that lead us away from our Father's true intention for his daughters on earth.

With that said, I believe the church has an important and impactful role as a community of faith-filled and spirit-led women. We have an opportunity to uplift and encourage each girl/woman to be faithful, holy, and righteous. To be independent of the world but dependent on God. Our goal is not to fulfill our desires but that of our Father, so that we can all reach heaven. And we can start by being an example to others of what it means to gather as girls and women of faith.

I'm thankful for the time we have to be together and to walk alongside each other as Sisters walking through seasons, living in seasons, and believing for better seasons in our lives.
