Inviting Others to Serve With Us - Even Kids

There is a lot of resource available online to help with understanding and creating content for your social platforms. You don't need a team of people or experts to create reels or graphics. But there are a few things you need to ensure you are clear on.

Here's a few things we focus on when creating and sharing content:

  • What message are we sending people who do not know Jesus?

  • What photos/videos best reflect the culture of our church family - that is a christlike culture?

  • Are we prepared to share the lowlights as well as the highlights?

These are our primary questions that help us to ensure that with every post we make, we can respond to these questions.

Content creation can feel overwhelming at times and when you're in a small church and one person is managing it - we need to look to creative ways to invite, encourage and include others to participate in it. It takes some patience and willingness to help them to set aside any feelings/thoughts like "I'm not creative", "I'm not techy", "I don't want to make a mistake". And seeing how they too, can capture the story of Jesus in this family.

We started a film series where we invited children to capture parts of our Sunday gathering using a smartphone and some simple clear instructions. We then encouraged them to give it a go.  What this does, is helps them to feel included in the life of church in other ways. It's been an insightful experience and recently I got to witness one of the children, bring to church her new camera (kid version ofc) and film parts of service. This little one is 5 years old 🙌🏼
